Learning Objectives
Visual Workshop Pre-Assessment - Complete the problem given as a pre-assessment. Students will attempt to create a document from scratch by looking at a completed solution. This document must be printed and submitted to the class inbox. No points will be officially awarded for this assessment, however it will be graded and used to measure increased your skill growth and knowledge at the end of the unit.
Video Notes - A video will be provided on www.schoology.com for the concepts in the unit. Students will be required to complete a notes handout to show they have watched the video. The video must be completed outside of the classroom.
Demonstration Exercises - Pages Word 50 - Word 67. The exercises are set up with the instructions on the left (even numbered) page and illustrations for comparison on the right (odd numbered). Complete the exercises as follows:
Concepts Review Worksheet - Complete the Concepts Review worksheet that will handed out to you. Turn it in to the class inbox by the classroom door.
Skills Review - Follow the instructions for the Skills Review exercises on pages Word 69 to Word 71. This exercise will review what you did in the lesson with less details and reminders in the instructions. When you finish the exercise. log on to www.schoology.com and submit your assignment file using the link Word - Unit C - Skills Review.
Independent Challenges - There are 4 independent challenge problems. These problems are Case projects requiring criticalthinking and application of the unit skills. The Independent Challenges increase in difficulty. The first one in each unit provides the most detailed instructions; the subsequent ones provide less guidance and require more critical thinking and independent problem solving. Complete the problems as assigned in class. When you finish the exercises, log on to www.schoology.com and submit your assignment files to the link appropriate for the problems you were assigned.
Visual Workshop Post-Assessment - The Visual Workshop Assessment consists of a Critical thinking exercise that requires students to create a project by looking at a completed solution; they must apply the skills they've learned in the unit and use critical thinking skills to create the project from scratch. This document must be printed and submitted to the class inbox. This assignment will be used to measure skill growth and knowledge from the beginning of the unit and will be worth 100 points toward your grade for the unit.
Objective Test - A test of Multiple Choice, Matching, Completion questions and one essay question. Test will be worth 100 points toward your grade for the unit. The objective test will be taken online.

- Change line and paragraph spacing
- Align paragraphs
- Work with tabs
- Work with indents
- Add bullets and numbering
- Add borders and shading
- Insert online pictures

- Read the material at the top of the even page to get the background information.
- Complete the exercise Steps below the line on the left (even numbered) page.
- Take note of the boxes in the margin as they come along. They will give you some tricks or ways to troubleshoot problems.
- If a step refers to a figure, it will be a picture on the right (odd numbered page). The pictures will give you something to compare your screen to as you complete the steps.
- Repeat steps 1 through 4 for each two-page spread in the unit.
- When you finish pages 66 and 67 (the last pages) of the unit, log on to www.schoology.com and submit your assignment file or files using the link Word - Unit C - Demonstration Exercises.
